When it’s time for me to write, when it’s time for me to mop the floor, when it’s time for me to pay my bills, when it’s time for me to go to work, when it’s time for me to move forward I begin with Santana’s “You Just Don’t Care”. I wiggle my head back and forth every time the guitar goes into its thing and when the singer cries, “No, she just don’t care,” I push my lips together, stick my elbows out, and put my back into it. I like this song because I’m thinking , “Yes! I don’t care about the fact that I am tired or that my body aches. I don’t care for the temptation to quit. I’m pushing ahead anyway. That’s right, I just don’t care for the doubters, the naysayers, or the Debbie Downers (especially the ones in my own mind).
I found that having a playlist specifically created to encourage me to take action was my way of taking responsibility for achieving my objectives. It’s a neat trick that takes me out of my head and into my soul and true intention. I win! I win! Every time. I get the hard work done and live to laugh about it.
How do you prepare to tackle the day ahead, the work ahead, or the difficult transformation you seek? Funny how a little thing like your favorite piece of music can make a such big difference.
When I work with my clients I encourage them to set up a music playlist that they cannot resist feeling good about. Making your own motivational playlist is an example of you taking responsibility and saying “yes” to the person you are becoming. You are in charge. Let the music take you there.
Maybe you prefer musicians very different from Santana. Music is personal. What works for me may not work for you, and it doesn’t have to. You might hate my playlist. I don’t care about that. What I do care about is delivering this message to you: Your favorite music can save your life. Use your music and JUST GET IT DONE NOW!
Now I am going to share with you not only my personal “Krista Get Moving” playlist, but also a few tips and attitude suggestions. Feel free to use whatever parts of my list and suggestions you want.
Leave a comment online here. Your comments help my blog grow and they give you some visibility too.
If you read through the entire list, whew, that was a lot of music and movement! I haven’t shared that information with anyone before, so leave me a message so I know I am not out here all by myself.
