My Birthday Blues
Today is my birthday and I invite you to put on a party hat, grab a cupcake, and celebrate with me. In these days when doing things virtually is common, we can celebrate together from wherever we are.
As a present to me, I decided to retire from my newspaper marketing job. It was the first real job and probably the best job I ever had. Although I left that job almost 7 years ago, filling out the retirement paperwork made me relive landing that job, leaving that job, and experiencing the highlights of building a career as a marketer and web developer. The retirement papers required proof of my divorce. Suddenly I was reliving the marriage, the divorce, and all the days in between. Life insurance options brought my mortality into view. OMG I was looking back on my entire life.
And just when I settled into what Tim Storey calls the nursing, cursing, and rehearsing of my should’ve, would’ve, could’ves MY Birthday Blues took on a different shade of blue when I remembered that this time next week I will be sailing the big blue ocean on a Caribbean cruise.
Come join me… virtually. I will be soaking in lots of big time, big blue bursts of vacation inspiration to fuel my coaching sessions when I return.
